Venue: Board room, University of Jaffna
The CQA organized this workshop because not all faculties had completed their internal reviews after the previous program review and no internal review was organized for the institution as well. The session was led by Prof. G. Mikunthan from the Faculty of Agriculture, who is also the person who developed the internal review guidelines for the University of Jaffna.
The workshop began with a welcome speech from the CQA Director, who clearly explained why the workshop was necessary and what the university hoped to achieve from it. Prof. Mikunthan then gave a general overview of the quality assurance system. He stressed why internal reviews and self-assessments are so important for maintaining academic standards. He also summarized the findings of past reviews, walked everyone through the standard procedures, and explained how the review process actually works.
After that, he provided an update on where things currently stand with the internal reviews. He highlighted the need for a proper, written manual to guide these reviews; so everyone follows the same rules. Finally, he reminded the participants that institutions must regularly update their records and document every process properly, as this is the only way to ensure long-term quality and accountability.
Finally, the Director/ CQA has informed the attendees that CQA will initiate the Internal review and expected to complete within 2026 and expected the commitment of all IQACs.
